François Francoeur

François Francoeur was a French composer and violinist born in Paris. Initially instructed by his father, he joined the Académie Royale de Musique as a violinist at age 15, returning as a member of the Concert Spirituel after travel and performance through major European centers of culture and music.

In 1760, King Louis XV appointed Francoeur as his Music Master. Francoeur would later hold the title of the Opéra Administrateur Général from 1772 until right before his death in 1775.
