Gerhard Roither joins the ranks of Ovation Press editors with world class arrangements of folk songs for cello ensemble. Mr. Roither presents two works which he created at the request of the 12 Cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic, one of the world's most highly regarded cello ensembles: the Seven Spirituals and Ack Värmeland for 12 celli.
Hans Erik Deckert has arranged multiple variations of a single work: Aus tiefer Not is a Lutheran chorale of which the words were written by Martin Luther himself as a paraphrase of Psalm 130. Many composers have set Luther's text to music including, as featured here, Johann Sebastian Bach for cello quintet and cello sextet and Max Reger for cello quintet.
It is our pleasure to present a republished version of our interview with musical legend Norman Carol, former concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra for nearly thirty years, as well as a couple featured scores from Mr. Carol's catalog of orchestral parts that he has edited for Ovation Press.
With our first cello release of 2013, editor Hans Erik Deckert explores the work of a more obscure composer: Englishman Frederick Delius. He has chosen a work of great historical significance: Elegy for cello septet.
