Bargiel Adagio for Cello and Piano

Edited by Charles Wendt

Title:
Adagio
Composer: Woldemar Bargiel
Instrument: Violoncello
Edited By: Charles Wendt
Instrumentation: Solo with Piano
Pages: 9 including the violoncello and piano parts

Bargiel was the half brother of Clara Schumann, who with her husband Robert Schumann arranged for the publication of some of Bargiel's early works.  While he did not compose a large body of works, his music demonstrates a fine tonal palette and solid musical craftsmanship.  Later in life, Bargiel and Brahms worked together as co-editors of the complete editions of Schumann’s and Chopin’s works.  The Adagio has been edited by Charles Wendt, Professor Emeritus at the University of Iowa School of Music.
