Ensembles
In the latest release from acclaimed cello editor, pedagogue, and performer Valter Dešpalj we have a series of four scores spanning a range of musical styles from the Baroque to the post-Romantic: Telemann's Sonata in D minor for Cello Trio, Beethoven's Sonata Op. 6 for Cello Trio, Mendelssohn's Andante religioso for Cello Quartet, and Lalo's Intermezzo from the Cello Concerto for Cello Octet.
In the last few months we have been greatly expanding our catalog of cello ensemble scores, in no small part thanks to editors like Charles Jacot. Now, Mr. Jacot has collaborated with Ovation Press to publish our first arrangement for string trio: the Fugue from Le Tombeau de Couperin by Maurice Ravel.
Hans Erik Deckert has added to his selection of arrangements with the "vocal" works of two composers primarily known for works on other mediums: Rachmaninoff's Vocalise (arranged for cello sextet) and Wagner's Zug zum Münster (arranged for cello quartet) enhancing the melodic essence of the original works with the rich sound of multiple cellos
Charles Jacot continues to bring us more incredible scores for the cello, arranging two short piano works from two distinctly different composers: Gounod's Marche Funèbre d'une Marionnette Arranged for Cello Quartet and Satie's Avant-Dernières Pensées - Aubade Arranged for Cello Duo (adding to Jacot's previous arrangement for cello quartet).
As we continue to expand the catalog of music available for the cello ensemble, we mark the start of June with a special collaborative score. Charles Jacot has edited Debussy's The Girl with the Flaxen Hair arranged for cello quartet by another one of our editors: Stephen Watkins. Hear Debussy's famous piano work fabulously arranged for cello quartet, imbued with the style of two of our finest editors!
New Ovation Press editor Hans Erik Deckert has just published two exciting Canzoni for celli. Like many of our editors, Mr. Deckert has an affinity and a knack for chamber music – especially when it comes to all-cello groups – transforming a 22-voice Gabrieli Canzone into an arrangement for 22 Celli! In addition, Hans Erik Deckert is a composer in his own right, bringing his Canzona for 12 Celli to Ovation Press
